The Decor

We wish to create a comfortable and casual yet upscale atmosphere for the ideal customer experience. It is extremely important to us that we create an inclusive environment, wherein everyone feels welcome and at ease. The restaurant caters to many markets and will hopefully be accessible to all.

As the Meteor was inspired by the famous S.S. Meteor steamboat, the decor inside our restaurant reflects the interior of the dining room on the steamer. You will find little pieces of the Meteor all around the restaurant (in fact, there is a physical piece of the boat!). The décor tries to recreate what the dining room of the Meteor could have looked like a hundred years ago.  The nautical theme is represented with shiplap, port holes and brass accessories. Following the style of the Presidents’ Suites, we bought this building in the hopes of renovating it as much as possible so that the decor tells a story and brings the customer back to a simpler time. In addition, some of the elements on the outside of the Café Meteor Bistro evoke an authentic, vintage feeling present in the glory days of Haileybury, such as the lamps on the outside wall and the awning.

For breakfast and lunch, we provide a well-lit, cozy and comfortable atmosphere, perfect for sipping your morning coffee or chatting with friends over a cup of tea and a croissant. Soon, we will be offering dinner, and the restaurant will transform into a bistro around 6pm. The details of the decor combine to create a more upscale, intimate, bistro-style atmosphere.Wood panels to match the bar in the evening cover the large blackboards, the music is changed, lights are dimmed, even the cushions on the chairs are flipped to reveal a more sophisticated print.  This provides the perfect environment for a night out. We are also licensed under the LLBO to serve Ontario beers and wines. The restaurant can seat up to 40 customers.
