Sustainability is one of our key values at the Cafe Meteor Bistro. We believe that people should be aware of what they are consuming, both in terms of food and of material things.
The cups and take-out containers we use are made of 100% recycled materials and are compostable. We do not use styrofoam or plastic products. In addition, we use EcoLab machines in our kitchen; their mission is to create sustainable machines that minimize energy use in order to protect the environment and waste as little water as possible.
60% of the food used in the Cafe Meteor Bistro kitchen is locally-sourced, with a goal of reaching at least 90%. Our chef is taking great care not to waste food when preparing it. We do not use artificial additives or preservatives in our dishes. The health of our customers and of the community is of utmost importance to us.
We make our own condiments, sold on the shelf in glass containers. The coffee we use and sell is fair-trade certified and comes from a local roaster in Ville-Marie, the Caféier-Boustifo.
