Garden Pleasures is a farm in the New Liskeard area owned and operated by Bev and Ross Brubacher. They grow vegetables over 15 acres of terrain and raise their own drug- and hormone-free pork, turkey, beef, and free-range chickens. We will be using many of their fresh vegetables, including potatoes, carrots, cucumbers, lettuce, and tomatoes, in the Café Meteor Bistro kitchen.
Deny Poitras, the Maraicher Urbain, is the farmer responsible for growing fresh sprouts that will be used in our kitchen. All of Deny’s products are tested in the laboratory to ensure that bacteria such as E.Coli and Salmonella are not present. This is done on a voluntary basis: there are currently no regulations or laws requiring these products to be lab-analyzed; Deny simply wants to ensure that the product being delivered is of the highest quality. Fresh sprouts are very nutritious, with extremely high levels of vitamins and minerals present in these little gems.
L’Eden Rouge in St-Bruno-de-Guigues, Quebec is a “table champêtre”, with a mission to offer the freshest food straight from the farmer’s fork to your fork. They produce a variety of high-grade products year-round; the Café Meteor Bistro will be using their tomatoes, cucumbers, and lettuce.
Craig Haven Farms and Gardens have been producing eggs and growing vegetables for more than 30 years! They offer an annual pumpkin patch in October, which is a must-see for children, that includes a tractor pull ride in a forest decorated in the fall theme. A large corn maze is a big addition to their farm. In the Café Meteor Bistro kitchen, we’ll be using many of their products, including eggs, vegetables, and basil.
Leisure Farms, located in Sturgeon Falls, provide us with fresh strawberries late in the season as well as other fruits and vegetables, including raspberries and corn. They’ve been a family-owned and family-operated business since 1981. They work hard to ensure that the produce grown and cultivated on their farm meets the highest of quality, freshness, and taste.
